Who we are
United Street Art is a Philadelphia-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing, preserving, and celebrating the city’s street art and graffiti community. Since our founding in 2022, we’ve worked to give the artists who shape Philadelphia’s walls the respect, platforms, and resources they’ve earned. We see street art as a public culture: open to everyone, rooted in neighborhoods, and part of what makes this city what it is.

OUR CAUSE

Street and graffiti artists have always made Philadelphia more vibrant, often with little recognition and almost no institutional support. We exist to change that. United Street Art is run entirely by volunteers. Our directors take no compensation, so every dollar we raise goes directly to programming, supplies, and artists. When you give to us, your gift stays in the community.

Step Outside is our exhibition program. It turns overlooked spaces into free, public street art galleries where legends and first-time artists hang side by side. We take no commission on art sales, so 100% goes to the artists. In 2026 alone, Step Outside:

Presented two shows at Platform X in Suburban Station, featuring work by 300+ artists
Welcomed 3,000+ unique visitors
Put $23,000+ in art sales directly into artists’ pockets
Hosted 6 artist talks, 6 Return to Sender drawing sessions, and 2 college student groups

In 2027, Step Outside goes on the road with pop-up shows that transform vacant and run-down spaces into street art galleries and community activations.

PRINT IS NOT DEAD

PMSLAPS is our publishing and sticker culture program. Through Priority Mag, zines, and print work, PMSLAPS documents the artists, crews, and history of Philadelphia street art, preserving a record of a culture that is constantly painted over, buffed, and rebuilt. Every publication is made by and for the community, and it puts artists’ work into readers’ hands far beyond the walls where it first appeared.

PMSLAPS also runs Return to Sender, a free monthly sticker-drawing session held at Tattooed Mom on South Street. It’s an open table: veteran writers, newcomers, students, and curious neighbors sit side by side, trade ideas, and make art together. Return to Sender also pops up at our Step Outside exhibitions, giving visitors a way to join in rather than only look. For many people it’s their first real connection to the street art community, and for working artists it’s a regular place to create, share skills, and stay connected.

RECOGNIZED BY OUR CITY

In 2026, United Street Art received a grant from the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, the city’s primary public funder of arts and culture organizations. That same year, the Step Outside team won Billy Penn at WHYY’s Billies Street Art Award, which recognized Platform X for turning the reopened Center City concourse into a public, “no walls” interactive gallery. Support from the city and recognition from the press show what the community already knew: Philadelphia’s street artists belong at the center of its cultural life.
